True Thoughts of a College Student: Working Vs. Education
It's Funny. Throughout life in America we're sent through a list of tasks in order to achieve a goal
To work legally, You must be 14.
To get in Places , You must be 18.
You turn 18, now you must be 21.
To rent a Car, you must be 25??
Seriously. The most famous system of them all is
"To Get a Job, you must be educated" America is a strange place because it is the only place where low lives can get more respect than the determined individual with goals. Is it really better to go to school and then get a job? As a student Its difficult keeping that goal of success in mind when America have contradicting systems that are in affect.
America states that it is better to get educated before entering the job market today. However that same friend in high school goes straight into the work force making $20. And then you the student go into a university and get in debt $20,000 each year plus interest. Only to graduate 4 to 5 years later and may not even be able to find a job in your direct field. Lets say you do get the dream job and your making $45/hr. Almost half of your check will be given directly to Student Loans for approximately 10-20 years. By now that friend who've been working since day 1, successfully runs his own small business in the neighborhood you grew up in. But this is America right? Equal Opportunity and Justice for all? I think not.
